Just like Emily Dickinson's Blues
for Jamie Gaughran-Perez

I'm happy

when my notebook
has a broken spine.
A coke-addled priest
waits at a country crossroads.
Rebecca the Christ
misbuttons her wool cardigan.
A vampire hitman
crouches behind the Batmobile.
Saint Julie is chewing gum,
the trees have learned to sing,
and war has gone to Eastertime too.
The planet will be free
when the last homicide detective
points her raygun
at the last pedophile.
